Key Personnel Biographies
Homie Razavi, Ph.D., MBA |
|
Homie Razavi has over fifteen years of experience in the industry, with a decade of experience in decision analysis and project and portfolio evaluation/assessment. Prior to founding Kromite, he was in charge of the Portfolio Management and Valuation group at Pharmacia with responsibility for analyzing individual pipeline projects as well as the portfolio management processes. His team worked on over 80 projects, with an R&D spending of $2 billion annually, in a number of therapeutic areas: inflammation/ arthritis, oncology, ophthalmology, urology, CNS, and anti-infective. At Searle Pharmaceuticals, he helped establish and lead the portfolio management activities in the Discovery organization with 30 projects worth over $30 billion. In addition, he was responsible for helping oncology and cardiovascular teams evaluate decisions and assess risk of different strategies. During his tenure at Kromite, he has helped a broad spectrum of pharmaceutical companies with their portfolio processes, project assessments, and improvement of the quality and speed of their decision making through facilitated meetings. He has a broad management background, with experience in business and commercial development as well as R&D. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Colorado and an MBA from Washington University. |

Jack M. Kloeber Jr., Ph.D. |

Jack Kloeber is a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel with experience in R&D portfolio management, decision analysis, modeling and simulation, technology selection, and strategy development. Jack taught mathematics at West Point for three years, and graduate level decision analysis, systems simulation, and technology selection for six years at the Air Force Institute of Technology. His work has supported decisions for various superfund sites within the Department of Energy, and many technology organizations within the Departments of Army, Air Force, and Navy. Jack was the head of Portfolio Management for Bristol-Myers Squibb. More recently, he was the head of the Portfolio Management for J&J Pharma Services where he coordinated the portfolio management efforts for J&J Pharmaceuticals across multiple R&D and marketing operating companies. Jack is currently a Senior Partner at Kromite. He received his Ph.D. in Economic Decision Analysis from Georgia Institute of Technology and Masters in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University. |

Andrew Levitch, MBA |
|
Andrew Levitch is a global financial, operations and strategic leader with extensive experience, primarily in pharmaceutical and technology environments, at companies ranging in size from Fortune 50 to start-up. He has nearly twenty years of experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and more than 10 years of experience in decision analysis, project and portfolio evaluation/assessment. Prior to joining Kromite, he was a member of the Global Scientific Strategy – Portfolio Management team at Merck and led a group responsible for Portfolio Integration. Mr. Levitch originally joined Merck in 1993 and spent the next seven years in positions of increasing responsibility within the Finance and Marketing organizations. In 2000, Mr. Levitch became the Chief Financial Officer of Advanticom Corporation, an IT Disaster Recovery company. In 2002, Mr. Levitch rejoined Merck in the newly created Investment Analysis and Planning Department within Merck’s Research Division (MRL). In 2004, Mr. Levitch took on a role providing Business support for the Advanced Technologies and Oncology Franchise within MRL and in 2007 Mr. Levitch took on a 3 year assignment as the business lead for Merck's RNA Therapeutics activity. Prior to joining Merck, Mr. Levitch spent several years providing litigation, management advisory, accounting, tax and audit services to small and mid-sized companies. Mr. Levitch also served in the United States Navy. Mr. Levitch received his MBA from Lehigh University, BS in Accounting from Rutgers College of Business and is a Certified Public Accountant (PA retired). Mr. Levitch is a member of the Financial Executives Networking Group and has consulted for both small and large businesses in the areas of strategic planning, business valuation, and portfolio management. |

Angela Bassa |
|
Angela Bassa has worked in biopharmaceutical and medical device strategy for the past six years. Prior to Kromite, Angela joined a fellow MIT alum's upstart consulting firm. She has worked extensively in many facets of pharmaceutical strategy, such as new product, life-cycle management, clinical development, disease area and portfolio, as well as communications and brand strategy in several therapeutic areas, including neuroscience, dermatology, immunology, metabolics, and cardiovascular. She has led teams at seven of the top ten Global Pharmaceutical companies, as well as with small- and mid-size companies. Angela began her career on Wall Street, as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Capital Markets division of Morgan Stanley, where she worked closely with the capital commitment and portfolio management teams, and honed her abilities in financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting. Angela holds a Mathematics degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with an Economics Minor and a Concentration in Political Science. While at MIT, she received a Provost Research Grant to fund her thesis into economic incentives and strategic interactions. In addition to being certified as a SCUBA diving instructor and NitrOx blender, Angela is also a nationally ranked martial artist, and speaks English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese fluently. |

Chris Estes, MPH |
|
Chris has extensive experience in data management and analysis. While at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), he managed a project to develop procedures for standardized coding of data from the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System. He was also part of a team that developed a survey for assessing injury-reporting behaviors in a national sample of workers. He has extensive experience with SAS and SPSS and has used statistical analyses to assess demographic trends in cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer. He has published a number of papers and presented at several conferences. He has a Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology from Drexel University School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Albright College. |

C. Kwon Kim, Ph.D. |
|
Kwon Kim has over eight years of business experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries. Prior to joining Kromite, he was Project Manager at Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, where he managed clinical and regulatory stage projects focusing on proprietary drug-device combination products. At Baxter BioScience, he was a core member of the Strategy and Portfolio Management Group. He was responsible for the design and implementation of the portfolio prioritization process for a R&D budget of approximately a quarter billion dollars. In addition, Kwon developed new guidelines for technical and commercial assessments, and asset valuations of all pipeline projects. At Strategic Decisions Group (SDG), he was a management consultant providing strategic decision support for life sciences companies. Kwon has experience in several therapeutic areas, including CNS, cardiovascular, endocrinology, pulmonology, and hemophilia. Prior to joining SDG, he was a research scientist at The Salk Institute. He holds a Ph.D. in Neurosciences, and M.A. and B.Sc. in BioPsychology from the University of British Columbia. |

Regina D. Klein, MLS, MBA |

Regina Klein brings extensive experience in knowledge management, competitive intelligence and strategic planning. Prior to Kromite, she worked for Pharmacia, Monsanto, Washington University School of Medicine, Central Missouri State University, and Elsevier Clinical Medicine Journals. She was responsible for technology intelligence and strategy development in the R&D Strategy organization at Pharmacia. At Monsanto, she created the business intelligence function supporting R&D, commercial development, alliances, and strategic decision making in the Nutrition & Consumer Sector. She was a member of the leadership team for the Monsanto Information Resources and Services group, with responsibility for strategy and planning for global business information development and delivery. Regina has written and lectured on the topics of competitive intelligence and knowledge management and their use in strategy development and portfolio management. She received her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Library Science and Information Science from the University of Missouri. Her M.B.A. is from Southern Illinois University. She completed the Advanced Skills Training Program at the Centre for Operational Business Intelligence and the Academy of Competitive Intelligence at Georgetown University. |

Kimberly Murphy, MSCS |

Kimberly Murphy has ten years of experience developing software for government and private industry. She has extensive application programming expertise, with a strong background in algorithm analysis and mathematical modeling. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from Drake University with a minor in Physics. Upon completing undergrad, she was selected for the Engineer and Scientist Development program where she created mission planning and tactical report management software for radar based systems. She was responsible for design, development, and testing of framework, data access, user-interface, and map-based analysis software including 3D cost scheduling tools. A Navair Graduate Fellow, she received her Master’s of Science in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, completing research in modeling and simulation with emphasis in multimedia and creative technology. |

Ken Pasini, MBA |
|
Ken Pasini has more than ten years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, both as a consultant and working within pharma companies. His strengths are concentrated in sales forecasting, market analytics and modeling. Prior to joining Kromite, Ken developed strategic sales forecasts at Biovail, primarily in specialty CNS areas such as respiratory depression and post-op pain management. He also created sophisticated analytical models to support the needs of the business in a variety of disciplines. Prior to Biovail, Ken led the forecasting and modeling team at SARGA Associates, a consulting firm, for five years. There, he developed global sales forecasts and supporting market analytics for big and small pharma companies in a wide array of therapeutic areas including respiratory, cardiovascular, diabetes, HIV, CNS, and oncology as well as non-pharmacological products such as hemostats for surgery. Prior to SARGA, Ken was a key member of Pharmacia’s Global Strategic Forecasting group, where he was primarily responsible for forecasting PCP markets including hypertension, CNS, and OAB, as well as Parkinson’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis. Ken has outstanding analytical and modeling abilities, which he has honed throughout his career. He also has a strong financial background, having managed and developed the company-standard project evaluation (Net Present Value) model for use across AT&T in addition to holding a number of other financial positions. Ken has a BS in Mathematics from Fairfield University and a MBA in Finance from Lehigh University. |
